In past years during July, Skyline Ministries in Oklahoma City has asked United Methodist Sunday School Classes, United Methodist Men and United Methodist Women's groups, youth groups, and individuals to grab packages of underwear and packages of socks in children's sizes, youth sizes, and in adult sizes as they are out shopping and bring them to your church and collect them over the remaining Sundays in July and the early part of August. You wonderful United Methodist people have provided the majority of the socks and underwear Skyline needs for Clothes-4-Kids in past years. This is my second summer as Executive Director, but all of the plans for last year's project were already in place when I was appointed here. And this year, Skyline has a new Site Director at McKee, and it is her first year to direct Clothes-4-Kids. Needless to say, we didn't get the word out early this year, so we're asking all to really crunch and spread the word fast and pack the shelves with socks and underwear over the next three Sundays.
Elizabeth Norman is the McKee Site Director. She can be reached at 405-632-2644 X 205 or X 206. Please call her if you need more information. If someone from your church can bring the items your church collects to Skyline, the McKee Center is at 500 S.E. 15th Street (just east of Central Blvd and just west of I-35 on SE 15th(in Oklahoma City.) If you can't bring them, please call Elizabeth, or call Allison at the 8th Street Center to arrange for our Skyline driver to come to your church.
I'll be at New Day Camp Too this week, CJAMM's camp for kids whose parent's are incarcerated. Many of these kids will also be among those who will be receiving Clothes-4-Kids this year.
And don't forget to vote: we still need votes to win the Pepsi Refresh Everything Challenge! www.refresheverything.com/clothesforkids
