Albright United Methodist Church has been appointed a new pastor by the Stillwater District Conference Cabinet. His appointment is to begin February 1, 2010.
Scott A. Spencer will be moving into the Albright United Methodist Church parsonage the last week of January. He comes from Acts 2 United Methodist Church in Edmond, Oklahoma where he was serving as an Associate Pastor.
During his college years at Oklahoma State, Rev. Scott Spencer realized that God had called him into full-time Christian ministry. There were several factors which led to this, including his time working as a youth director in two United Methodist churches and his experience on the "Walk to Emmaus" spiritual retreat. After graduation, he moved to Kentucky to attend Asbury Theological Seminary. In Kentucky, Scott experienced internships with both a local hospice and Episcopal mission (which later became a church) and he also worked for three semesters as the assistant to the Dean of the Chapel. Scott graduated with his Master of Divinity degree in 1995 and returned to serve in the Oklahoma Annual Conference. Prior to coming on staff at Acts 2, he served as an associate pastor at Altus FUMC, senior pastor of the United Methodist churches in Lone Wolf and Blair in southwest Oklahoma, and the director of the ecumenical United Campus Ministry at East Central University in Ada.
The Staff Parish Relations Committee met with our new pastor on Thursday January 7th at our church, and we are begining to working with Pastor Spencer and learn of the exciting things he has to share and will be sharing it with you.
Blessings,
Julie Brown
