TRANSPORTATION in, around and out of Ponca City

FREE TRANSPORTATION TO AND FROM  PONCA CITY SENIOR CENTER AT 319 West Grand  is provided by the Parks and Recreation Department of Ponca City = Monday through Friday on one of two Senior Center routes. Route-one picks up Seniors starting at 8:45AM, and Route-two picks up starting at 10AM. Seniors are taken home from the Senior Center in a bus that leaves the center at 12:15PM, and in a second bus that leaves the Senior Center at 1:30PM (or after afternoon activities). (Closed President's Day=February l5th). To ride the bus phone 718-0444 Monday through Friday. Give the dispatcher your first name and address and say which routes you want to ride on. You can schedule a standing appointment . Please be ready 10 minutes before your pick up time. Phone if you want to cancel a pickup. Seniors may also ride  at other times for $1.50 for each one way trip to or from the Senior Center at 319 West Grand. Info=718-0444.

New January 2009 SILVERDOLLARS TRANSPORTATION VOUCHERS PROGRAM  How does the voucher system work? Apply through NODA Area Agency on Aging.   All Kay County Residents over 60 years of age who apply will receive $105 worth of vouchers. Each voucher is worth $3.   New vouchers will be issued the last week of March, June, September and December- but you also have to turn in vouchers not used the previous 3 months.  .   You then pick a transportation provider that is on NODA's list that will accept the vouchers.  You can either choose an in-town ride ( and up to 5 miles outside of city limits) or an out-of-town ride.   In-town rides will always use 1 voucher. Out-of-town rides will be negotiated between you and the provider. It will depend on the distance of the particular destination.
