GRANDCHILDREN AND FAMILY LIFE
4th MONDAYS 5:30-7PM Meeting of "Grandparents Raising Grandchildren and other relatives" will be held in the St. Mary's Churc Parish Center at 408 South Eighth Street. A Snack supper will be served. In Oklahoma, 6.5% of all children are being raised by grandparents, the largest number in the United States. This Support Group was started in January 2009 and promoted by the Retired Senior Volunteer Program of Kay County. Information=762-9412.
The Ponca City Library at 5th and Grand Avenue in Ponca City, has many programs for children and families. - Ponca City Library's Mrs. Toon will read stories to children between the ages of 0 - 7 every Thursday morning at 10:00 - 10:30 a.m. in the Children's book area of the Library. This program is free and open to the public. There is no sign up, and no limit on the number of children you may bring. ASSE International Student Exchange Program seeks local host families for boys and girls from a variety of contries ages 15-18 years of age for the coming highschool year or semester. GOBAL INSIGHTS, a non-profit student exchange program, is seeking host families in the Ponca City area. Exchange Students must speak English and must complete 30 hours of community service while here. Single persons or Man and wife are elgible to host a student for a semester or a year.
