Passionate Worship

The Congregational Practice of Passionate Worship

Worship describes those times we gather deliberately seeking to encounter God in Christ. God uses worship to transform lives, heal wounded souls, renew hope, shape decisions, provoke change, inspire compassion, and bind people to one another. The word passionate expresses an intense desire, an ardent spirit, strong feelings, and the sense of heightened importance.  Congregations who practice Passionate Worship offer their utmost and highest; they expect worship to be the most important hour of the week.

The Personal Practice of Passionate Worship

Through the personal practice of Passionate Worship, we learn to love God in return. Followers of Christ develop patterns of listening to God, allowing God to shape our hearts and minds through prayer, personal devotion, and community worship. We love God. (www.fivepractices.org)

Albright gathers for corporate worship on Sundays at 10:30 a.m. Our worship is rooted in the ancient traditions of the church as well as contemporary expressions of worship and praise.

Our music is led by a choir under the direction of Pat Purkey.

People of all ages help lead in worship. In addition, our worship is highly participatory. People are encourage to participate as they are able.

The nursery is available during worship for any child kindergarten and younger and is staffed by church volunteers who have passed background checks. In addition, all our Sunday school teachers have passed background checks.

As we leave the sanctuary each Sunday, we are reminded that we go into the world to be the hands and feet of Jesus in the world. Our corporate worship may end around 11:30 a.m. each Sunday, but we also continue our worship out in the world as we serve Christ as his followers.

Normally, we celebrate the sacrament of Holy Communion on the first Sunday of the month in addition to special occasions such as Christmas Eve and Maundy Thursday of Holy Week.  All who feel led to receive at the Lord's Table are welcome to receive.

As United Methodists, we believe people of all ages are candidates for baptism. We encourage the baptism of babies by parents who are committed to raising their children to know and follow Jesus Christ. The entire church pledges to help parents in this journey. We believe in three modes of baptism - sprinkling, pouring or immersion. We baptize using water in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Albright's worship services are broadcast on the local cable (cableone) channel 3 on Wednesdays at 6 p.m.
