Rev. April Coates previously served as a pastor of Wilburton UMC and as a campus minister at EOSC United Ministry in the McAlester District. She was ordained in 2014 as an Elder. Prior to ministry in Wilburton, she received her Masters at Duke Divinity and bachelor's degree in Child and Family Services at Oklahoma State University.

April has served in many different ministry contexts: campus ministry, multicultural, bilingual and rural. She has done mission work in Mexico, El Salvador, Guatemala, Belize and  Israel/Palestine. She currently serves on the Conference Board of Hispanic Ministry and on the OSU Wesley Foundation Board. On the district level, she has served on the MUMAC Camp Design Team and youth coordinator.

Her passion in ministry is equipping the people of God to be in ministry in the world. In her life, she seeks to serve and love people for who they are and whose they are. She hopes to lead by example and is always open to learning from others how to do this better.

April hails from Ardmore, OK. Her parents and sixteen year old twin siblings still reside there. April has a twin sister, Ashley, who lives and works with her husband in Washington D.C. Her siblings are the most important people in her life. April loves OSU Athletics, as well as, watching her Duke Blue Devils dominate in basketball. She loves trail riding, working on her Spanish, hiking, swimming and reading in her "downtime."
